As we get closer to the full easing of lockdown measures this summer, Manchester is currently gearing up to host one of the largest drag events ever seen before in the UK.
On July 25th, the 02 Apollo in Manchester will host at some of the most famous Drag Race queens from across the pond who will perform in the show titled the Main Event, organised by Holy T.
The long running RuPaul’s Drag Race has aired across 13 seasons and five all star editions, creating almost 200 superstar drag celebrities as a result. The show’s cast will include Drag Race royalty Bianca Del Rio, as well as Alaska, Latrice Royale, Courtney Act and Willam.
A host of even more queens have yet to be officially announced but the show has already been dubbed the “Super bowl of drag” by fans across social media due to its legendary line up.
For many of these international queens the summertime concert will be one of the first times that they have performed in the UK since the outbreak of the coronavirus.
“It’s been a bit of a heartbreaker not being able to tour since March last year,” the event organiser Paul McAvoy told the Manchester Evening News. “I think a lot of people have missed that sense of interaction you get with concerts, so we’re coming back with the biggest line-up ever to hit the UK in Drag Race history."
