Drag Race sensation Courtney Act has been promoting her new track ‘Witty & Whippy’, in collaboration with the drag DJ duo Jawbreakers.
The single was used to promote the annual Mardi Gras festival which takes place in Sydney, Australia on the 6th of March. The event is dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ pride.
Courtney Act and the Jawbreakers performed ‘Whitty & Whippy’ live on stage, performing on an old-school Mr Whippy ice cream truck. Courtney Act was an official host of this year's Mardi Gras festival, along with Zoe Coombs Marr, Narelda Jacobs and Joel Creasey. Like many famous drag queens, Courtney rose to fame after competing in Ru Paul’s Drag Race in 2014. Since leaving the show, her career has continued to excel. In addition to pursuing a career in music, Courtney has featured in many television programs, two of which being her own: The Courtney Act Show and The Bi Life, as well as appearing on the West End in Death Drop.
Troye Sivan and Rita Ora also performed at the event on Saturday and are dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ pride. Due to Coronavirus regulations, fans from across the country have had to attend this year’s Mardi Gras celebration virtually. The parade was streamed live from the SCG building in Sydney, at 7:30pm on SBS Australia.
